Tanvi Sharma’s Denmark Open campaign ended in the quarterfinals on Friday, as world champion An Se-young beat her 21-15, 21-13 in Odense.
With the opening game level at 2-2, Tanvi tried to find her rhythm against An, relying on controlled length clears and straight drives. She held her own in the early exchanges, using deep clears to test the world champion’s backcourt and starting rallies with purpose.
However, the longer rallies left Tanvi with little margin for error. She struggled to find openings against An’s tireless retrieving, with her drives down the line often sailing wide or long as she tried to force the pace.
Tanvi ended up on the floor after a punishing, high-intensity baseline exchange, stretching deep to chase down a sharp cross-court placement.

Trailing 17-11 in the opening game, Tanvi fought to close the gap, mixing deep lifts with quick exchanges at the net. However, An’s relentless court coverage continued to frustrate her, and Tanvi struggled to keep her attacking shots within the lines. An eventually closed out the game 21-15.
Tanvi struggled to find her footing in the second game, with An racing to a 4-1 lead through sharp, aggressive placements. By the interval, the world champion had stretched her advantage to 11-5, as Tanvi’s defensive clears repeatedly fell short, allowing An to take control of the rallies.
Tanvi appeared to tire as the match progressed. Having stayed competitive in the opening exchanges, she was increasingly forced to cover every corner of the court as An varied the pace and placement of her shots.
An sealed the win 21-13 in the second game, ending Tanvi’s run at the tournament after two demanding games.
