Tejaswin Shankar bagged a bronze in decathlon at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in Japan on Sunday, becoming the first-ever Indian man to win two medals in the gruelling discipline at the continental showpiece.
Tejaswin, who had secured a silver medal in Hangzhou in 2023, finished third this time with a total of 7934 points.
Home favourite Yuma Maruyama (8123 points) won the gold medal while the silver went to China’s Chen NXinghua (8012 points).
Thowfeeq Noushad, the other Indian in the field, had to miss the second day of decathlon due to an injury.
Earlier this year, Tejaswin had also won a bronze medal at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
