India’s Lovlina Borgohain took silver in the women’s 75kg final after she lost to Australia’s Emma-Sue Greentree 1-4 by points at the Commonwealth Games 2026 on Saturday.
This was Lovlina’s first CWG medal, and the Indian boxing contingent’s seventh medal of this edition. Her and Jadumani Singh have been the only ones to clinch silver so far.
In the final, Lovlina donned a heavily strapped left knee which restricted her movement in the first round. The Australian boxer came away with a 4-1 win.
Greentree was then seen bleeding a bit during the second round. After a brief pause in play, the Indian did get in a few hits on her opponent to get a 4-1 win in this round.
Ahead of the third round, three of the five judges were tied.
The third round saw both pugilists trade blows, but it was Greentree who took a 4-1 win to take the top prize.
The Olympic bronze medal-winning Indian, who’d gotten a bye in the quarterfinals, had beaten Tuvalu’s Tarona Taafaki 5-0 in the semifinals.
