Asian Para Games 2026: Double podium for India in javelin throw as Pradeep, Ayush win silver and bronze
India secured a double podium in the men’s javelin throw F53/F54 final at the Asian Para Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, after Pradeep Kumar and Ayush Verma won silver and bronze respectively on Tuesday.
While Pradeep (F54) finished second with a best throw of 27.45m, which came in his sixth and final attempt, Ayush (F53) came third with 17.88m (fifth attempt). Both Indians also notched up their Personal Bests.
Iran’s Erfan Bondori (F54) took the gold with a Games Record-breaking throw of 30.24m.
This is the second double podium for India in javelin throw in the ongoing edition after Rinku and Ajeet Singh pulled off a 1-2 in the men’s F46 event.
F53 athletes typically have full function of their arms and hands, but lack abdominal muscles and lower spinal muscle activity, leading to no sitting balance.
F54 athletes have full upper muscle power in the arms and partial-to-full trunk muscle power, though movement in the mid-trunk and legs is still affected to a high degree.
